Cinnamon Basil
- beautiful green plant with cinnamony leaves
- native to tropical regions from central Africa to Southeast Asia
- a culinary herb of the family Lamiaceae (mints).
- beautiful flowers pollinators love.
- hardy perenniel to zones 3-9
Grow Cinnamon Basil in a Kitchen Window
- plant seeds in a small jar sunny location inside or outside after all danger of frost has passed.
- plant 7-10 seeds per jar 1/4in deep
- Use water spray bottle to keep soil moist to promote effective germination
- seedlings emerge in 7-14 days
- thin to one plant per 12 in apart (I like to grow them closer together and harvest more often.
- once the stems have grown 6 – 8 inches tall, you can begin harvesting
- harvest when buds begin to form up until frost outdoors
How to Dry Cinnamon Basil
- once the stems have grown to 6 – 8 inches tall, you can begin harvesting for drying purposes.
- bundle stalks together, I use a pipe cleaner to bundle.
- hang the stalks upside down until leaves are dried out completely.
- the process can take a couple of weeks to a month.
- once dry, break the leaves and flowers into small bits, discarding stems as you go.
- store in air-tight containers in the freezer for maximum freshness.

Per one cup of water
- 1-2 tbls dried herb
- 3-4 fresh leaves
